Sanctuary

Churches have always been a favorite photography subject, both interior and exterior. Last November I was in Seattle to shoot a wedding and took a few days off to visit old friends and the usual destinations.  Although I lived in Seattle for 20+ years, I never visited St. James Cathedral on “Pill Hill” near downtown.  It was the coldest day of the season, windy and rainy (duh) so the inside of a historic building was a great destination.  Upon entering the sanctuary, I was treated to the soulful sound of the organist practicing for an upcoming concert.  Then I took this shot:

  1. Hi John – “a chosen race” was part of an inscription that went around the baptismal pool so it’s a little out of context. It went on “You are a chosen race, a royal priesthood.” I don’t know the biblical references; I just like to take pictures 🙂
