Super Moon

Super Moon 2012

On Saturday May 5th, the full moon was also at its closet distance to Earth in its elliptical orbit. It had been cloudy most of the day in eastern Massachusetts, so it wasn’t the best conditions to see the moon rise.  When the moon started rising above the horizon, a thick fog bank out at sea obscured the view.  As the moon continued on its path, it soon rose above the clouds, much to the delight of the people at the beach waiting for the full moon to appear.

This image was shot from the northern beach of Plum Island in Newburyport, Massachusetts.

  1. You do terrific work! I’ve looked at all your pictures. Love your landscapes and HDR’s. I really need to get into trying the HDR stuff.
