Port Townsend

Sometimes you wake up one day and realize the place you’ve been looking for is right in your own back yard.  When I think about the ideal place for my lifestyle, I paint a picture which includes a blue ocean, towering mountains capped in snow, friendly & active people, and of course, really good coffee.  Outside Magazine has picked the nearby towns of Port Angeles and Bellingham for their “top 16 places to live” annual lists.  They must have missed the turn to Port Townsend is all I can figure.

I’ve lived in Washington state for much of the past 29 years, and have only been to Port Townsend three times, usually just passing through.  The historic town is located where the Strait of Juan de Fuca turns south into Puget sound, sandwiched between the North Cascade and the Olympic mountain ranges.  This weekend I decided to visit Port Townsend and just hang out.   I was enamored.
